Huskers Claim 14 Event Titles at Nebraska Spring Tune-Up

The Nebraska track and field team wrapped up the outdoor regular season, winning 14 event titles on Friday afternoon in Lincoln, Neb.

Leading off the track events was the inaugural Husker Cup Athletic Department 4x100m relay, where the T&F Media Squad (Camdyn Beirow, Jaden Gebeke, Jackson Griesch and Mac Johnson) took home the title, running 51.93. 

In the men’s hammer throw, Seth Schnakenberg threw the third-furthest mark in school history (68.14m, 223-7) to claim the event title. 

Rico Leijenaar ran a personal best in the men’s 1500m to claim the event title, clocking a 3:48.34. Alea Hardie used a lifetime best of 4:23.99 to win the women’s 1500m. 

Sage Burbach began the day winning the women’s shot put title, throwing 15.55m (51-0 ¼). 

Ashriel Dixon claimed the event title in the men’s 100m dash, running 10.67. In the women’s 110m hurdles, Kate Campos earned the event title with a time of 13.89. 

In the women’s pole vault, Arina Razina cleared the bar at 4.25m (13-11 ¼) to claim the event title. On the men’s side, Dyson Wicker won the event title, clearing 5.55m (18-2 ½). 

Karsyn Leeling continued her strong outdoor season, winning the women’s high jump title with a mark of 1.83m (6-0).

In the women’s 800m, junior Berlyn Schutz claimed the event title, crossing the line in 2:03.85. Luciana Medina won the women’s 400m event title, circling the track in a personal best 55.61.

Amelia Flynt took the women’s discus title with a mark of 52.18m (171-2). On the men’s side, Brett Schwartz earned first, throwing 58.25m (191-1).

Ava Alexander took home gold in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 12.40m (40-8 ¼).

The Huskers will return home next weekend, where they host the Big Ten Outdoor Championships on May 15-17 at the Nebraska Outdoor Track. Events will be streamed on B1G+.
