Huskers Shut Down Spartans in Series Opener

Jordy Frahm threw a complete-game shutout and the Husker offense recorded 11 hits, and the No. 9 Nebraska softball team defeated Michigan State, 2-0, on Friday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich.
With the win, the Huskers improved to 22-5 on the season and 4-0 in the Big Ten. Head Coach Rhonda Revelle picked up her 1,200th career win.
Frahm (8-3) tossed her fifth complete game of the year and recorded 12 strikeouts while allowing no runs and only two hits en route to the win in the circle.
A Jesse Farrell home run and Hannah Camenzind RBI single accounted for the scoring for the Big Red. Farrell also added a double.
In the top of the third, Bland walked and went to third base on a H. Camenzind single up the middle. Bland scored on a Kuszak sacrifice fly to give NU a 1-0 lead.
Farrell extended the edge to 2-0 on a two-out solo shot in the top of the fifth.
The Huskers will take on the Spartans again tomorrow, March 22 at 12 p.m. (CT). The game will be streamed on B1G+ and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.
