Jackson Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week
Nebraska senior middle blocker Andi Jackson was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in her career on Monday.
Jackson becomes the third consecutive Husker to win the award after Olivia Mauch (Oct. 19) and Manaia Ogbechie (Oct. 12) were recognized earlier this month.
This week’s honor marks the fourth of the season for the Brighton, Colo., native after previously being named Big Ten Player of the Week (Sept. 28, Oct. 5) and AVCA Player of the Week (Sept. 29).
Jackson put up 1.67 blocks per set and helped the Husker defense limit opponents to an .063 hitting percentage in Nebraska’s sweeps of UCLA and USC last week, while also contributing 3.17 kills per set on .567 hitting to continue to sit third nationally in hitting percentage (.479).
In a sweep of UCLA on Thursday, Jackson had six blocks to go with 11 kills on .625 hitting. Jackson finished with four blocks and eight kills on .500 hitting in a sweep against the Trojans on Saturday.
