Janulewicz Leads Northwest To Sweep On Record Setting Night
 
        
    (Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest Vikings would defeat Omaha Gross Catholic on Thursday night in the B5 district semi-final in three sets, 25-15, 25-18, 29-27.
The first point of the night would come from Northwest sophomore Ava Janulewicz picking up her 768th career kill as a varsity player. Janulewicz would break a 2013 record of 767 kills held by Mackinze Brown.
The Vikings on the night would get 18 kills from Ava Janulewicz. Eli Payne would have 15. Nasya Anderson would chip in 10 kills. Tessa Scheer would have 4 kills. Kenna Bowman would have 21 service points on the night. Payne would have 5 ace serves along with 16 service points. Halle Rice would have 12 service point, including the final two points in the third set.
Omaha Gross Catholic was led by Adara Fowlkes with 14 kills, followed by Sienna Miller with 7. The Cougars end the season with a record of 18-14.
Northwest is now 23-10 on the season and will now travel to Waverly on Saturday, November 1st to take the Vikings for the 3rd time this season. Northwest fell to Waverly in the Beatrice tournament early in the season on September 6th, 25-23, 25-18. Northwest would then fall at Waverly in straight sets on September 18th, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20.
Waverly enters the match with 28-5 record. The Vikings defeated Omaha Duchesne on Thursday night, 25-20, 25-7, 25-15.
