Jays Win Pink Out Game vs Seton Hall, 79-54
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Basketball delighted an overflow crowd of 18,430 with a 79-54 victory over Seton Hall on Saturday, January 25, in its 15th annual Creighton vs. Cancer Pink Out game. The Bluejays moved to 11-4 all-time in Pink Out games, earning the win thanks in large part to a 41-20 second half differential.
Creighton's fifth straight win lifted the Bluejays to 14-6 on the season and 7-2 in BIG EAST play, while Seton Hall fell to 6-14 overall and 1-8 in conference contests.
Seton Hall started the contest firing on all cylinders as the Pirates held a 28-20 edge with 5:25 left before the bottom dropped out on the visitors, who were playing without leading scorers Isaiah Coleman (15.8 ppg.) and Chaunce Jenkins (11.4 ppg.).
The Bluejays closed the first half on an 18-6 run, then scored the first nine points of the second half to punish the Pirates. The Bluejays led by as much as 26 points while posting their second win of 20+ points this week.
Kalkbrenner led all scorers with 23 points, while Ashworth delivered 17 points and Isaac Traudt closed the contest with 10 points. Creighton shot 58.3 percent for the game, including 11-of-26 from three-point range (42.3 percent), and won the rebound battle 29-26. CU outscored The Hall 26-18 off the bench and 14-6 in transition.
Seton Hall got a team-high 12 points from Prince Aligbe and 10 points and a team-leading five assists from Garwey Dual. The Pirates shot 42.6 percent from the floor while relying on pull-up jumpers from the elbow for much of the contest.
The Bluejays return to action on Wednesday, January 29 as Creighton hosts Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on FS1.
