Jensen Named to Top 25 List for NFCA Freshman of the Year

Nebraska softball two-way player Alexis Jensen was recognized as a top 25 candidate for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Freshman of the Year Award, the organization announced on Thursday.
 
Jensen has been named the National Freshman of the Week by three separate organizations this year and has been the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week and the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. She was also named to the D1 Softball Clearwater Invitational All-Tournament Team.
 
The Gretna, Neb., native has had an impact on both sides of the ball this season. In the circle, she is 18-2 with 27 appearances and 19 starts. She has posted an ERA of 2.73, along with 166 strikeouts and only 27 walks. Jensen ranks in the top 15 nationally in strikeouts per seven innings (sixth), strikeout-to-walk ratio (eighth), wins (13th) and strikeouts (14th).
 
Offensively, Jensen is hitting .344 with five home runs and four doubles. She adds 15 RBIs and a .641 slugging percentage.
 
Jensen is the first Husker to be named to the NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 25 list.
