Legislative Update
**After over two days of debate, LB400 was passed over at the Nebraska Legislature on Friday. The intent of LB400 is to provide funds under the Nebraska Workers' Compensation Act for cancers experienced by firefighters. Dave Wordekemper, the introducer of the bill, made the motion as the two sides work on a compromise. Opponents call the measure an unfunded mandate.
**Grand Island Senator Dan Quick Introduced LB720 which would create a Temporary Body Art License that allows qualified, out-of-state tattoo and body art professionals to legally practice at licensed conventions or events in Nebraska for a limited period of time. Grand Island hopes to host a convention. The bill went before the Health and Human Services Committee on Wednesday.

**Public hearings was held before the Judicial Committee. Dan Lonowski of Hastings introduced LB804. LB804 establishes that communications made during a peer support counseling session between a designated peer support counselor and the law enforcement officer, emergency services employee, or member of the Nebraska National Guard are generally confidential and not subject to disclosure in civil, criminal, or administrative proceedings.
