Local Legislators Speak in Lincoln
The District 37 State Senator spoke twice on the floor of the Legislature. Steve Stein has more. Stan Clouse of Kearney paid tribute to former state senator Joel Johnson, who died on Friday.
Clouse later supported LB384 which would make adjustments to the so-called Pink Postcard law.
LB 384 revises Nebraska’s “Truth in Taxation” law by requiring one voting member of the governing board of a property-taxing entity exceeding its allowable growth rate, to attend the corresponding joint public hearing. The assessor of the county hosting the hearing would also be required to attend. It advanced to enrollment and review 46-0.

A bill introduced by a Grand Island Senator advanced at the Nebraska Legislature. LB 365 from District 35's Dan Quick would codify existing Medicaid coverage of self-measuring blood pressure devices and an extra cuff and add coverage of clinical support services. An amendment would restrict these to high risk pregnancies. LB365 advanced on a 34-4 vote.
