Lopers One Shot off the Regional Lead; Rhude Tied for 1st

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team carded a 310 and is one shot off the lead after the first round of the NCAA Central Regional Monday in St. Joseph, Mo.

The 18-team field is playing the par 72 St. Joe C.C. (5,966 yards). The top five teams in the 54-hole tournament, along with the top two individuals not on one of those teams, advance to the NCAA Championships next week in Florida.

The average score in round one was an 80.94 with UNK's 310 trailing only a 309 turned in by 35th-ranked Rogers State and Henderson (Ark.) State. No. 49 Washburn also fired a 310 with eight others between 315-320.

Arizona senior Emmie Rhude is tied for the lead thanks to a 2-over par 74 (36-38). Her day included three birdies and 10 pars. Five others turned in the same score. Next, Kansas junior Liz Lyons is tied for 14th (77; 37-40) with Minnesota sophomore Calie Dockter tied for 23rd (79; 38-41). Lyons started with eight consecutive pars while Dockter had a birdie on the par 3 14th hole (339 yards). Finally, Kansas redshirt sophomore Claire Berquist is tied for 37th (80) and Swedish freshman Pella Broms is tied for 69th (83).
  
Action resumes Tuesday morning with cooler temperatures and rain in the forecast.
