North Star Downs GI Home Federal 4-0, Season Comes To An End


(Kearney, NE) - The season would come to an end on Tuesday night as Grand Island Home Federal fell 4-0 to Lincoln North Star Anderson Ford on Tuesday at Kearney Memorial Field in the Class A National Division State American Legion baseball tournament, despite out-hitting them five to four. Ian Arends led Grand Island Home Federal with two hits.

Lincoln North Star Anderson Ford got on the board in the first inning after Easton Wesslund hit a solo home run to right field.

Preston Graff earned the win for Lincoln North Star Anderson Ford. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. Miles Nelson took the loss for GI. The righty went six innings, surrendering four runs on four hits, striking out six, and walking seven.

Grand Island turned one double play in the game. Grand Island Home Federal was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Brody Davidson had the most chances in the field with eight.

Jameson Lantz, Logan Murphy, Brandt Warner, and Wesslund each collected one hit for Lincoln North Star Anderson Ford. Murphy led Lincoln North Star Anderson Ford with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Wesslund led Lincoln North Star Anderson Ford with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.

The Grand Island Home Federal American Legion baseball season ends with a record of 34-11.
