Northwest Comes Up Short In Hard Fought Battle With Bennington

(Bennington, NE) - It was a hard-fought battle on Friday night that saw the Bennington Badgers defeat the Northwest Vikings, 27-7.
The two teams would exchange blows back in forth for a defensive battle until the 2:47 mark of the 2nd quarter when the Badgers would punch in a three-yard touchdown run. The Vikings would have a three-and-out and have to give the ball back to the Bennington offense. Threatening again, Ethan Mader for Northwest, would have an interception with 1 minute left in the half. The Vikings would only trail 7-0 going into halftime.
Suiting up 91 players, Bennington ran double the players in the game, wearing down the Vikings. Northwest continued to the battle as Bennington would get their 2nd touchdown of the night on a 42-yard touchdown pass with 5:11 left in the 3rd quarter to make it 14-0. Bennington would force a Viking turnover on a strip sack with 3:57 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Bennington would then take that possession and score on a 16-yard run. The PAT missed, and the Badgers would lead 20-0.
Northwest would avoid the shutout with 8:34 left in the game on the Vikings' best possession of the night, scoring on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Caejon Suttles to Gavin Burt. PAT was knocked in by Walke,r making it 20-7. Bennington would tack on one more TD on the night with 6:37 left on a 32-yard touchdown run.
