Northwest Downs North Platte 9-1 On Senior Night

(Grand Island, NE) - Lauren Jones collected three hits in three at-bats as Northwest defeated North Platte  9-1 on Monday night at the Vets Complex. Jones hit a home run to left field in the fifth inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Northwest got on the board in the first inning after Becca Dinkelman hit a solo home run to left field.

Abby Dinkelman hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third for the Northwest.

Northwest scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to left field by Jones.

Graclyn Simmons earned the win for Northwest. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking one. Tiffany Townsend took the loss for North Platte . The pitcher went five and one-third innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out nine and walking two.

Northwest accumulated 11 hits in the game. Dinkelman and Dinkelman each collected multiple hits for Northwest.

Abby Stiffler, Devaney Jones, and #1 each collected one hit for North Platte. Aubrey Simmons led North Platte with one run batted in.
