Northwest Softball Downs Aurora, 11-8

(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest Viking softball team defeated Aurora on Tuesday night at the Vets Complex, 11-8. 

The two teams would be tied at 3-3 going to the fourth inning. Aurora would get two runs in the top of the fourth, and Northwest would answer with seven runs to take a 10-5 lead. The Huskies would answer in the top of the fifth with three more runs to trail 10-8. The Vikings would get one more run in the game in the bottom of the 6th to take an 11-8 advantage. 

Leading the way for the Vikings was Abby Dinkelman with three hits on the night, one home run, and two RBIs. Sadie Cemper would have three hits and three RBIs. Northwest would also get two hits and two RBIs from each Becca Dinkelman and Gracyln Simmons. 

Simmons started the game in the circle for the Vikings, going five innings, 95 pitches, giving up six hits, three runs, four walks, and had seven strikeouts. Libby Loman would pitch two innings, 56 pitches, giving up four hits, five runs, one walk, and four strikeouts. 

Northwest is now 13-2 on the season and will be back in action Saturday, September 20th hosting their home tournament at the Vets Complex. First round games start at 9:00 am. There will only be seven teams participating, which gives the Vikings a first-round bye. Northwest will play at 10:45 pm and 1:00 pm. 

First Round Match Ups - Saturday, Sept. 20th - Vets Complex 

9:00 am - NEN vs Scottsbluff 

9:00 am - Centura vs Aurora 

9:00 am - York vs Waverly
