Northwest Softball Picks Up 13-5 Road Win At Aurora

(Aurora, NE) - Abby Dinkelman hit two home runs and drove in five as Northwest defeated Aurora 13-5 on Tuesday at Aurora Softball/Baseball Complex. Dinkelman homered in the second and seventh innings.

Northwest opened the scoring in the first after Graclyn Simmons singled, scoring one run.

Novella Stevens walked, which helped Aurora tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Northwest flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on eight hits to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Dinkelman that drove in three.

Northwest added one run in the third. Dinkelman doubled to left field, making the score 8-1.

Aurora scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a home run to center field by Vivi Fahrnbruch.

Dinkelman hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the seventh for the Northwest.

Becca Dinkelman earned the win for Northwest. The pitcher gave up eight hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking four. Violet Carstensen took the loss for Aurora. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, surrendering seven runs on nine hits, striking out none and walking none. Payton Smith pitched two and one-third innings of shutout ball for Northwest in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.

Northwest tallied 19 hits in the game. Haper Wissing, Simmons, Lauren Jones, Dinkelman, Naleah Baier, Karstyn Zuelow, and Lexi Ross each collected multiple hits for Northwest.

Fahrnbruch went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Quincey Eggleston and Keirra Siebrass each collected two hits for Aurora. Aurora turned one double play in the game. Aurora didn't commit a single error in the field. Carstensen had the most chances in the field with 11.
