Northwest Softball Snags Road Win At Kearney, 8-4

(Kearney, NE) - The Northwest softball team would win its fourth game in a row, defeating Kearney on Tuesday night, 8-4 at Patriot Park.
Northwest would jump on top 1-0 in the top of the first on a Kearney wild pitch that would score Madi Cole from 3rd base. The Vikings would then make it 6-0 in the top of the second on a Lauren Jones 2 RBI single, an RBI triple from Abby Dinkelman, and capped off by a two-run home run from senior Libby Loman.
Kearney would score two runs in the bottom of the fourth, making it a 6-2 game. The Vikings would get an RBI double by Becca Dinkelman in the 5th with Kearney answering with a run to give Northwest a 7-3 lead. In the top of the 6th, left fielder Alexis Glaze would launch her second home run of the season to the left field corner, giving Northwest an 8-4 lead. Kearney would scratch across their final run of the game in the bottom of the 6th.
Graclyn Simmons would get the win in the circle for Northwest, tossing 125 pitches, 9 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and would have 10 strikeouts.
Kearney is now 8-3 and next in action Thursday, September 4th at Lincoln High. Northwest is now 6-2 and will be back in action on Saturday, September 6th at the Kearney Invite.
