Northwest Softball Wins Three At LPS Invite

(Lincoln, NE) - The Northwest softball team would win three games on Friday at the Lincoln Public Schools Invite. The Vikings opened the day with a 13-1 win over North Platte. Northwest would then defeat Lincoln Standing Bear 6-3 and round out the day with an 11-0 win over Lincoln Southeast. Northwest is now 5-1 on the season and next be in action on Saturday, September 5th at the Kearney Invite vs Norfolk, Aurora, and Kearney. 

GAME 1

Abby Dinkelman collected three hits in three at bats, as Northwest Varsity Vikings defeated North Platte Varsity Bulldogs 13-1 on Friday at Doris Bair Softball Complex. Dinkelman singled in the third inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the second inning.

Northwest Varsity Vikings scored nine runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Lexi Ross doubled, scoring one run, Naleah Baier singled, scoring two runs, Dinkelman singled, scoring one run, an error scored three runs, and Kyra Johnson doubled, scoring two runs.
Northwest Varsity Vikings jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored one run, and Skyler Pehrson doubled, scoring two runs.

An error extended the Northwest Varsity Vikings lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
Becca Dinkelman earned the win for Northwest Varsity Vikings. The pitcher surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Iliana Pavlik took the loss for North Platte Varsity Bulldogs. The hurler went two and one-third innings, giving up eight runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking four.

Graclyn Simmons, Johnson, and Pehrson each drove in two runs for Northwest Varsity Vikings. Baier collected two hits for Northwest Varsity Vikings in three at bats. Dinkelman led Northwest Varsity Vikings with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Dinkelman stole two bases. Northwest Varsity Vikings stole seven bases in the game.
Caslynn Kohl led North Platte Varsity Bulldogs with one hit in one at bat.

Becca Dinkelman hit two home runs and drove in three as Northwest Varsity Vikings defeated Standing Bear Varsity Grizzlies 6-4 on Friday at Doris Bair Softball Complex. Dinkelman homered in the third and fifth innings.

Graclyn Simmons struck out 12 batters on the day. The pitcher also surrendered three hits and four runs over five innings while walking three.
Northwest Varsity Vikings opened the scoring in the second after Addie Burbach hit a solo home run to left field.

Standing Bear Varsity Grizzlies captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the second after Finnley Quick singled to the left side of the infield, Sami Johnsen was struck by a pitch, and Standing Bear Varsity Grizzlies scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Dinkelman homered to left field, which helped Northwest Varsity Vikings tie the game at three in the top of the third.

In the top of the fifth, Northwest Varsity Vikings broke up the tie when Abby Dinkelman homered to center field, scoring two runs. Then a solo home run to center field by Dinkelman followed to extend the lead to 6-3.

Analise Meitzen took the loss for Standing Bear Varsity Grizzlies. The righty went four and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking none.

Dinkelman went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Northwest Varsity Vikings in hits. Burbach collected two hits for Northwest Varsity Vikings in three at-bats.

Lily Johnson, Quick, and L Hansmeier each collected one hit for Standing Bear Varsity Grizzlies. Johnson, Quick, and Johnsen each drove in one run for Standing Bear Varsity Grizzlies.

Northwest Varsity Vikings easily dispatched Lincoln Southeast Varsity Knights on Friday at Doris Bair Softball Complex, 11-0.

Northwest Varsity Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Abby Dinkelman hit a solo home run to center field, Graclyn Simmons doubled, scoring one run, Lexi Ross singled, scoring one run, and Alexis Glaze doubled, scoring two runs.

Northwest Varsity Vikings extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Simmons and Lauren Jones.

Northwest Varsity Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Naleah Baier doubled down the left field line, and Becca Dinkelman homered to left field, each scoring two runs.

Simmons earned the win for Northwest Varsity Vikings. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking one. Addie Baltensperger took the loss for Lincoln Southeast Varsity Knights. The right-handed pitcher went two innings, giving up four runs on five hits, striking out one and walking four. Taya Waller stepped in the circle first for Lincoln Southeast Varsity Knights. The hurler gave up five hits and seven runs over one inning, striking out one and walking two.

Northwest Varsity Vikings tallied 10 hits in the game. Simmons and Dinkelman were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Northwest Varsity Vikings. Baier collected two hits for Northwest Varsity Vikings in three at bats. Dinkelman led Northwest Varsity Vikings with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Jones stole two bases. Northwest Varsity Vikings ran wild on the base paths, piling up nine stolen bases for the game. Northwest Varsity Vikings turned one double play in the game. Northwest Varsity Vikings were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Addie Burbach had the most chances in the field with eight.

Hannah Harper led Lincoln Southeast Varsity Knights with one hit in two at bats.
