Northwest Volleyball 2026 Season Preview

(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest volleyball team is gearing up and ready for the 2026 season, which will start with a home match against Lakeview on August 27th.

The Vikings are coming off a 23-11 season last year, falling to Waverly in the district final round. The last time Northwest volleyball advanced to the state tournament was in 2022. The black and gold will have plenty of seasoned talent coming back, including Ava Janulewicz (JR), who is currently the schools all time leader in kills and had 428 last season.  Janulewicz also led the team in ace serves last year with 48. 

Behind the junior will be three more returners with plenty of firepower. Ellie Payne (SO), who had 277 kills last year, Nasya Anderson (SR), 177 kills, and Anna Bower (SO), 75 kills. 

Senior setter and school record holder in assists is back, and Kenna Bowman. In her junior campaign, she dished out 914 set assists.
