Omaha Men's Basketball Clinches Spot In The Big Dance

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - In the program's 14th year since transitioning to Division I, the Omaha men's basketball has made history tonight by clinching its first ever NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship berth.
As the Summit League Regular Season Champions, the Mavericks guaranteed their spot in March Madness with a 100-75 win over South Dakota in the Semifinal round, as well as St. Thomas' 85-69 win over North Dakota in the other Semifinal. Since the Tommies are not yet eligible for postseason play as they are in their final year transitioning to Division I, no matter who wins tomorrow's Championship Final Omaha will earn the bid.
The Mavericks still have a lot to play for tomorrow, though, as they will look to secure the program's first ever Summit League Championship title when they face off with St. Thomas at 8 p.m. Once that is complete, the team will have to wait until next Sunday, March 16 at 5 p.m. (CT) for the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on CBS to find out their opponent and location for their first ever appearance in the tournament.
