One Arrested After Pursuit in Dawson County

August 24, 2025 (Lexington, Neb.)  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Tennessee woman after a brief pursuit in Dawson County.

At approximately 1:10 p.m. Sunday, NSP received a report of a Ford Edge speeding and passing other vehicles on the shoulder of Interstate 80. The vehicle was reportedly traveling eastbound near mile marker 215, near Gothenburg.

A trooper located the vehicle and clocked in traveling at over 100 miles per hour on I-80 near mile marker 221. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver continued eastbound, reaching over 120 miles per hour. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

Near mile marker 234, the driver of the Edge pulled over. The trooper performed a felony traffic stop. The driver exited the vehicle and began approaching the trooper and yelling. The driver refused to follow the trooper’s commands. The trooper then deployed a taser and was able to take the driver into custody.

The suspect, Jessica Summers, 38, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, was medically cleared at the Lexington hospital and has been lodged in Dawson County Jail for willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace office, and failure to obey a lawful order. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office assisting in the arrest.
