One Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Grand Island, Neb. — A northbound Kawasaki EX300 motorcycle lost control west of the intersection of S. North Road and Stolley Park Road, leading to the death of 21-year-old Jose Mendoza of Grand Island. Next of kin has been notified.
The incident happened at 6:48 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22. A preliminary investigation shows Mendoza lost control on the curve in the 2900 block of S. North Road, crossed the road and crashed into a power pole on the north side of the road. Although Mendoza had been wearing a helmet, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Grand Island Police Department accident reconstructionist continues to investigate the incident. The road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours during the investigation at the scene.
