Outdoor Warning Siren Testing Today; Public Reporting Encouraged

Grand Island, Neb. — As severe weather season approaches, Hall County and the City of Grand Island Emergency Management are reminding residents that outdoor warning siren testing will take place at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 15).

They encourage the public to help ensure the system is functioning properly. Residents who are outdoors during that time are asked to report whether they hear the siren in their area by calling (308) 385-5360 or by e-mailing [email protected]. Public reporting plays a critical role in verifying that the sirens are operating correctly, as it is the primary way Emergency Management can confirm system performance across the community.

Residents are encouraged to report both successful activation and any instances where a siren is not heard. When submitting a report, individuals should include their location at the time of the test, such as a home address or nearby landmark, to help accurately identify which siren is being evaluated.

Emergency Management officials appreciate the community’s assistance in helping maintain a reliable outdoor warning system and ensuring residents are properly alerted during severe weather events.
