Pats hold off Cats at Duncan Field
It was a wild one Thursday at Duncan Field in Hastings as the Adam Central Patriots held off St. Paul/Palmer 22-15 with both teams combining for 30 hits and seven errors. The Cats got off to a hot start scoring six runs in the first. Adams Central cut the lead in half to make 6-3 at the end of the frame.
St. Paul/Palmer added two insurance runs in the top of the second but Adams Central batted through the order in the bottom of the inning scoring 9 runs. The Patriots held the Cats scoreless for the third and fourth innings while they added 8 runs during that stretch to build a 20-8 lead. St. Paul/Palmer got within seven runs scoring five in the top of the fifth. The Cats couldn't get any closer then that as the two teams exchanged four runs for the remainder of the contest with Adams Central securing the win 22-15.
Mason Majerus led the Cats with 4 RBIs.
The loss drops St. Paul/Palmer to 2-3 on the early season. The Cats get their first taste of home-cooking this weekend as they host a triangular with Seward and Aurora at Grover Cleveland Alexander Field in St. Paul.
