Pinning Ceremony Planned for GIPD Chaplain Program

Grand Island Police

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Police Department is proud to announce the re-establishment of its Police Chaplain Program, which will serve both Hall County and the City of Grand Island.

A formal chaplain pinning ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 19 at 4 p.m. in the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) Community Meeting Room. The ceremony marks the conclusion of a two-day training session for new chaplains who will soon begin providing support and care to local law enforcement personnel and their families.

The revitalized chaplain group includes several new members and will be coordinated by a newly-created part-time chaplain position. This position is made possible entirely through community support and donations, reflecting the strong partnership between local residents and the public safety agencies that serve them.

“Chaplains play a vital role in supporting our officers, civilian employees and the community,” said Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney. “We’re grateful for the generosity of those who helped make this program possible.”

Members of the media and the public are invited to attend the pinning ceremony to meet the new chaplains and learn more about the program’s mission to provide compassionate, faith-based care to those who serve and protect the Grand Island community.
