Project Access York Moves Forward Following Bid Opening

Nebraska Department of Transportation

Oct. 1, 2026 (Lincoln, Neb.) — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) announced that bids were opened for Project Access York, marking a major milestone for the City of York and moving the project a step closer into becoming a reality to enhance bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

After years of planning, the project is moving into the next phase of bid review and contract award. Project Access York aims to benefit the entire region, strengthening connectivity, improving access, supporting economic development and helping position York for continued growth.

Project Access York is supported by $15.63 million through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s RAISE Program, awarded in 2022 with assistance from the Nebraska Infrastructure Hub (IHUB). The project will improve connectivity throughout York by connecting and extending the city’s existing trail system. Improvements include approximately 9 miles of new trails and a pedestrian overpass over U.S.

Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027, following completion of the bid review and contract award process.
