SPRINGFIELD, MASS.  — The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Creighton's Baylor Scheierman is one of 10 candidates on the Mid Season Watch List for the 2024 Julius Erving Award. Named after Class of 1993 Hall of Famer and 16-year professional basketball player Julius Erving, the annual honor, in its 10th year, recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men's college basketball.

Scheierman leads No. 13 Creighton in scoring (17.8 ppg.) and rebounding (8.1 rpg.), ranking in third in the BIG EAST in both categories. He also leads the conference in three-pointers per game (3.1) and defensive rebounds per game (7.3) while ranking second with 35.7 minutes per game. An Aurora, Neb,. native, Scheierman is 40 points away from becoming the first men's player in Division I history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 500 assists and 300 three-pointers in a career.

Scheierman is Creighton's only player in the 10 seasons of the Julius Erving Award to be named to the watch list at any point. Last season he was one of 20 men on the preseason watch list, then advanced to the final 10 in early February. He is the only member of last season's final 10 to also make this year's final 10.
