St. Francis once again earns an ‘A’ for patient safety

GRAND ISLAND – CHI Health St. Francis once again earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care. Only 32% of all hospitals nationwide, and just three in Nebraska, received the prestigious “A” rating.
“This outstanding recognition is an indication of the consistent, high-quality care our community can trust from St. Francis,” says Steve Schieber, president, St. Francis. “But, more important is what this excellence means for our patients: the best and safest possible care, delivered each and every day, right here in central Nebraska, close to home.”
Annually in the fall and spring, Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to keep patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
