Theoharis: New Head Coach, Familiar Face Ready To Guide Viking Softball

(Grand Island, NE) - After teaching at Hastings Public Schools for 25 years, Pete Theoharis is ready for his next challenge. 

Theoharis takes the reins as the head coach of the Northwest Viking softball team, which is coming off the 2025 Class B state championship. The former Hastings High School head softball coach takes over for Mitch Sadd, who was part of Northwest softball for 20 years, coaching in a variety of roles and guiding the Vikings to three state titles as head coach. 

Northwest will start the season on Saturday, August 22nd, hosting a triangular with Omaha Skutt Catholic (10:00 am) and Beatrice (Noon). The Vikings defeated both teams last year in the state tournament. Skutt in the bracket final and Beatrice in the state title game.
