Tornado Strikes Near St. Libory, Residents Escape Without Injury
ST. LIBORY — Multiple homes were destroyed after a tornado touched down along the northern edge of St. Libory late Sunday afternoon.
According to Howard County Emergency Manager Allen Wilshusen, approximately five homes were heavily damaged or destroyed as the tornado moved through an area near the intersection of Denton Road and 7th Avenue.
Wilshusen said several people were initially trapped inside damaged homes but were able to safely get out. Officials confirmed no injuries have been reported.
Power lines are down and pivots in the area are overturned.
Emergency crews responded quickly and continue assessing damage in the area. Authorities say additional information will be released as inspections and cleanup efforts continue.
Residents are urged to avoid the damaged area while emergency personnel work at the scene.
