Troopers Make Arrest After Multiple Pursuits in Lancaster County
May 7, 2026 (Lincoln, Neb.) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a man after a pursuit and search in northern Lancaster County overnight.
At around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a trooper was patrolling on Interstate 80 near mile marker 400, in Lincoln, when he saw a BMW sedan speeding at over 95 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated and fled eastbound, causing a pursuit to ensue.
The driver reached speeds over 160 miles per hour on I-80 before exiting at mile marker 405 and turning southbound onto 56th Street. As the vehicle continued toward Lincoln, the pursuit was discontinued out of concern for public safety. Several minutes later, another trooper located the same vehicle as it was traveling westbound on Cornhusker Highway in Lincoln between 70th and 56th Streets. The driver fled again, turning northbound onto 56th Street, where another trooper was able to successfully use stop sticks to slow the vehicle.
The driver continued north for some time before coming to a stop near Highway 77 and Agnew Road in northern Lancaster County. The driver then fled on foot. Troopers searched the area with assistance from several other agencies, but they did not locate the driver in the immediate area. However, troopers found identifying information inside the vehicle and were later able to arrest the driver when he returned home at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
The driver, Nathanael Campbell, 20, of Ceresco, was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving – second offense, obstructing a peace officer, and traffic violations. He was lodged in Lancaster County Jail.
