Two Bills from Regional Senators Face Committee Hearings

District 33 Senator Dan Lonowski presented LB 987 in front of the Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee.  LB987 creates the Vision Benefit Plan Act. The Act establishes detailed standards for how insurers and vision benefit managers interact with eye care providers and enrollees by ensuring transparency, disclosure, and non-retaliation requirements.  It prohibits certain practices such as forced provider participation in unrelated plans, nominal reimbursement, and misleading advertising. 

District 35 Senator Dan Quick brought LB 725 before the General Affairs Committee. It is a clean-up of the Nebraska State Electrical Act. Provisions include clarification of the following: license renewal dates and late penalties, class B and residential licenses, inspection requests and procedures, additional inspection fees, and clarifies permissible activities related to directional boring. LB725 also eliminates and consolidates obsolete language. Finally, LB725 increases a late fee for failing to file a permit for electrical inspection. One spoke in favor. Two were against at the hearing.
