Two-Out Rally Propels Huskers Past Jackrabbits

The No. 9 Nebraska softball team scored seven runs with two outs in the fourth inning and downed the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 8-1, on Friday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla.
 
With the win, Nebraska improved to 12-5 on the season and 1-1 this weekend. South Dakota State fell to 12-6. 
 
Ava Kuszak, Emmerson Cope and Hannah Coor all had two RBIs. Kuszak doubled and Cope had a two-run single, while Coor knocked a home run. Jordy Frahm added a home run of her own, while Jesse Farrell added two hits. 
 
Hannah Camenzind (4-0) grabbed the win in the circle, as she tossed four innings with only one run and two hits. Kylee Magee earned a save after pitching a scoreless final three innings.
 
Nebraska grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, as Farrell singled and got to second on a fielder’s choice. She went to third and eventually scored on a wild pitch. 
 
With two outs in the top of the fourth, Frahm homered and H. Camenzind and Farrell hit back-to-back singles. Kuszak doubled to score the two before Hoffmann walked and the two went to second and third on a wild pitch. Cope singled and Kuszak and Hoffmann crossed the plate, and a Coor two-run homer closed out the seven-run inning.
 
South Dakota State added a run in the bottom of the fourth.
 
The Huskers will take on Tulsa at 5:05 p.m. (CT) today. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.

  • NU’s seven-run fourth inning was its highest scoring inning of the season.
  • The Huskers have now scored 4+ runs in 15 innings this year.
