Kearney, Neb. – The seventh-ranked Nebraska Kearney wrestling team used some reserves to easily get past the Newman Jets, 39-9, Sunday afternoon at the Health & Sports Center.

UNK (16-3, 3-0) pushes its win streak to 10 in a row while NU from Wichita remains winless on the season (0-4, 0-3). This MIAA dual was originally set for Jan. 12 but postponed due to weather.

The Lopers used most of their varsity lineup to win Saturday night at 21st-ranked Central Missouri, 28-10, and then returned home this morning. UNK closed today's dual with two falls in less than 2:00, a tech fall that featured seven takedowns and three other bonus point wins.

"We had a good team win last night despite missing a couple of starters who competed today," said UNK head coach Dalton Jensen. "We were able to put together two separate teams this weekend and that gave some of our younger guys that opportunity to be put in the spotlight. It really showcases the depth of our program."

At 141 pounds, seventh-ranked Nick James (Kearney) had three takedowns, a 3-point near fall and 3:02 to have a 16-3 major decision. One class higher, graduate John Burger (New Milford, N.J.) was up 10-0 after the opening period and recorded a 16-1 tech fall that featured over five minutes of riding time.

"Whether it's our first, second or third team in a dual like this, we have that confidence that we can go out and compete at a high level," said Jensen. "Some guys that typically don't see the varsity lineup took advantage of their opportunity today and had some dominating performances."

To close out the match, senior Jacobi Deal (Durham, N.C.) managed an unprecedented seven takedowns in less than two minutes to win 21-6 at 184 pounds with redshirt freshman Tre Daro (David City) and redshirt sophomore Jake Boley (Colorado Springs) following with falls in only 1:02 and 1:03.

Things ramp up Thursday night as NAIA national power Grand View (Ia.) comes to Buckle Court at 7 p.m. That dual was recently moved up two days to accommodate the Vikings schedule.
