US-30, West Grand Island switching to new alignment tomorrow

Aug. 20, 2025 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, beginning tomorrow, Aug. 21, U.S. Highway 30 (US-30) traffic will be moved head-to-head onto the new westbound lanes, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Werner Construction, of Hastings, is the contractor for this project. Traffic on US-30 will be moved head-to-head onto the new westbound lanes of the 4-lane divided urban highway section from west of Monitor Road to Claude Road. Construction will continue on the new eastbound lanes from North Road to Claude Road. Motorists are asked to use an alternate route during construction of the new eastbound lanes.
US-30 traffic on the new alignment will have the right-of-way. Traffic on North Road, Stolley Park Road, Engelman Road and Husker Highway should stop and use caution when crossing the new US-30. Traffic will be maintained on the new US-30 with temporary traffic controls and signs.
Anticipated completion is June 2026.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
