USS Nebraska Crew to Visit Grand Island During Nebraska Tour

Grand Island, Neb. — Grand Island will welcome the commanding officer and five crew members from the USS Nebraska during a multi-city visit across Nebraska on June 16-17.

The visit is being sponsored by the Nebraska Admirals and the Omaha Big Red Submarine Club and is designed to strengthen connections between Nebraskans and the submarine that proudly carries the state's name.

The USS Nebraska delegation will arrive in Grand Island on June 16 following stops in Omaha and Lincoln. During their stay, crew members will be hosted at Grand Island Casino Resort and will attend a dinner at the Saddle Club. Then, on June 17, the delegation will tour Hornady Manufacturing and the Nebraska State Fairgrounds before attending a luncheon at the Grand Island Veterans Club. They will also visit the Grand Island VA Medical Center before continuing their tour with stops in Kearney and North Platte.

The USS Nebraska (SSBN-739) is an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine commissioned in 1993 and serves as part of the United States Navy's strategic deterrence force. The vessel is named in honor of the State of Nebraska and maintains a longstanding connection with communities across the state.

The visit provides an opportunity to recognize the service and dedication of the sailors who serve aboard the USS Nebraska while strengthening ties between the crew and the communities they represent. For more information or any media inquiries, please contact Doug Brown at (308) 390-5372.
