Vikings Have Solid Showing At State Individual Bowling Tournament

The Class B State Singles Championship was held Monday at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.
All participants bowl 4 games of qualifying. The top eight players in each division (boys/girls) will advance to a bracket final and be seeded by qualifying position. The bracket will consist of a 2-game series total, with the higher score advancing in the bracket. The state champion will be the player that wins the bracket, with the final positions of all 8 players determined by ranking of score at the time of elimination.
For the girls, Northwest Seniors Faith Lahm and Cali Fenster participated in the tournament. Lahm qualified and entered the bracket as the 7th seed. In the 1st round, Lahm defeated #2 Sarah Schmaderer of Omaha Duchesne. Lahm fell in 2nd round to #6 Annemarie Slaughter of Howells-Dogde, finishing 4th overall. The Class B State Singles Champion is Lauren Moore of Arapahoe.
For the boys, Northwest Junior Owen Pieper and Freshman Maddux Engle participated in the tournament. Pieper qualified and entered the bracket as the 6th seed. In the 1st round, Pieper defeated #3 Logan Handy of York. Pieper then fell in the 2nd round to #2 Colin Meysenburg of Lincoln Pius X, finishing 3rd overall. The Class B State Singles Champion is Dylan Jensen of Wayne.
The NSAA Bowling Championships continue tomorrow with the Class B State Team Championship, Wednesday with the Class A State Team Championship, and Thursday with the Class A State Singles Championship.
