Vikings sink Cats in sweep
The St. Paul Wildcats returned to action following a week hiatus following their loss to Central City. The youthful Cats squared up against a stingy Columbus Lakeview Viking Squad.
The two teams exchanged leads throughout Set #1 before St. Paul took a late lead of 22-18. The Vikings stormed back in the First frame scoring the final 7 points to steal the set 25-22.
The Vikings stole the momentum and the match as they jumped out to quick leads in Sets 2 and 3 to sweep the match 25-22, 25-17, 25-20 to improve to 14-7 on the year while St. Paul drops to 8-14.
Delaney Jennings dialed up 4 aces and a strong defensive effort to take home Runza MVP of the game honors.
The Cats return to action Thursday on Country 96 as they close out our regular season coverage at Doniphan-Trumbull with our coverage beginning at 6:50 pm. The match up will be a home and home between the two teams as they will meet up in St. Paul Monday in the opening round of the Lou Platte Conference tournament.
