Welsch Show Draws From Life at Grand Island Public Library

City Of Grand Island

Grand Island, Neb. — What can a painting represent? After the passing of her husband Roger, painting helped artist Linda Hotovy Welsch work through her grief while she quietly contemplated life. This show will display a collection of her paintings at the Grand Island Public Library during the month of February in an art show titled, “Retrospective—Variety of Life.”

“Life as I knew it ended September 30, 2022,” Welsch said. “That’s the day my husband Roger Welsch passed away. I had no plans to paint again, but a year later I did pick up a brush, and began to paint small things -- a coffee cup, a geranium, some household items, and I felt better at least while I was painting. Sometimes painting was the only thing that helped me through another day.”

“Retrospective” is a collection of 29 of Welsch’s paintings and will be on display at the Grand Island Public Library Art Alcove for the month of February starting Saturday, Feb. 3. The Grand Island Public Library serves both residents of the City of Grand Island and Hall County.
