Wilson Honored by Ray Guy Award
For the second time this season, sophomore punter Archie Wilson was honored by the Ray Guy Award for being one of Ray’s 8 for Week 9. The award recognizes the top eight punters from last weekend’s games.
Wilson averaged 49.8 net yards per punt on five punts last Saturday’s game against Washington, placing four inside the UW 20-yard line. All five punts went at least 40 yards, including kicks of 59 and 60 yards, while none of the kicks were returned.
Wilson is 21st nationally and third in the Big Ten in punting with an average of 45.1 yards per kick and has placed 14 of his 31 punts inside the opponent 20-yard line. He has helped Nebraska rank 12th nationally in net punting at 43.4 yards per kick, while the Huskers are 17th nationally in punt return defense. In all, just four of Wilson’s 31 punts have been returned this season.
