Work will begin on Hastings Regional Center Spur Bridge

June 27, 2025 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin June 30 on S Southern Hills Drive, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Herbst Construction, of Sioux City, Iowa, is the contractor for this project. Work includes removing and replacing the entire superstructure of the bridge, grade beams, surface under guardrail and approach sections. The roadway will be closed to traffic during construction. The traffic will be detoured to N Marian Road via U.S. Highway 6 (US-6) and 2nd Street. The landfill will remain accessible from the north. Anticipated completion is Nov. 2025.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
