Work will begin on I-80, from Giltner to Hampton

April 8, 2026 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin April 19 on Interstate 80 (I- 80) from reference post 322+23 to reference post 336+15, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Garcia Chicone Enterprises, Inc., of Milford, is the contractor for this project. Work includes placing 64,736 feet of high-tension cable guardrail over asphaltic surfacing, installing W-beam guardrail in three locations and extending culverts. Traffic will be maintained on I-80 with temporary traffic control devices. Anticipated completion is Nov. 2026.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
