Zobel Named Region 9 Player Of The Week
Beatrice, Neb - Grand Island Northwest graduate Reyse Zobel was named Region 9 Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks to close out the season, signaling the strong finish the Bobcats showed to end the regular season.
Zobel earned the honors after hitting .556 over the weekend against Luna Community College. She hit three home runs and batted in a total of nine runs with six of her own in the four game series. The Grand Island freshman's grand slam in the early game on Saturday kicked off a nine-run inning for SCC. In the second game alone she recorded four hits and three RBI, including a two-run home run in the seventh to extend the lead to 12-6. Zobel recorded a hit in the third game, and in the fourth game she hit another two-run home run to put the Bobcats ahead 15-14 with two outs in the top of the seventh, ultimately setting up a 16-15 walk off win to cap off the regular season.
Southeast Community College softball is currently 29-19 on the season and will play in the Region 9 tournament starting Thursday, May 7th.
